Titanite links rare-element (meta-)pegmatite mineralization to Caledonian metamorphism

چکیده
The metamorphic reworking of mineralized pegmatites during orogenesis remains unclear, making the genesis and tectonomagmatic significance pegmatite mineralization obscure. This study demonstrates multiple utilities titanite geochemistry in establishing Caledonian evolution world’s largest intra-plutonic Nb-Y-F Paleoproterozoic host rocks Tysfjord, Northern Norway. A combination titanite-specific barometry, Zr-in-titanite thermobarometry, U-Pb geochronology yields peak metamorphism ?12 kbar 730–750 °C at ?410 Ma for metamorphosed ( meta -pegmatite) region. In relation to published ages 410–400 other regional -pegmatites, interpreted as overprinting here, we argue that protoliths have undergone analogous rocks, which was caused by allochthonous nappe stacking late collisional orogeny (?440–400 Ma). Published formation ?400–380 undeformed are 10–30 younger than metamorphism, supporting an anatectic link post-collisional extension. led strong shearing preexisting bodies resetting trace elements isotopic systems constituent minerals via mineral re-crystallization, inheritance Pb components, element diffusion. cautions against interpretation -pegmatite-derived geochemical information terranes without detailed textural investigation.

apatite, and titanite
[1] Recent calibration studies have expanded the range of target minerals suitable for cosmogenic He dating to include U and Th‐rich phases such as zircon, apatite, and titanite. These minerals often contain large amounts of radiogenic He that present several analytical challenges for precise and accurate He determinations. In this paper we document the abundance sensitivity and changes in the ...
متن کاملLate Precambrian U–Pb titanite age for peak regional metamorphism and deformation (Knoydartian orogeny) in the western Moine, Scotland
There has been controversy over the number and timing of orogenies in the Precambrian Moine block in the Scottish Caledonides since the earliest radiometric dating in the 1960s. This work challenges a recent hypothesis, that this sector of the Laurentian margin was subjected to continuous crustal extension between .900 and 470 Ma. U–Pb dating (thermal ionization mass spectrometry) of titanite f...

This paper is an outgrowth of the compilation of metamorphic information for the Canadian Shield in Ontario, and complements the recently compiled Metamorphic Map of the Canadian Shield. The paper contains a summary of the Archean metamorphic history of the Superior Province in Ontario on a subprovince basis, with an emphasis on the limitations of the existing data and the reasoning applied in ...
متن کاملMechanical Links between Erosion and Metamorphism in Nanga Parbat, Pakistan Himalaya
The mechanics and petrological signature of a collisional mountain belt can be significantly influenced by topographic and erosional effects at the scale of large river gorges. The geomorphic influence on crustal scale processes arises from the effects of both stress localization due to existing topography, and also erosional removal of advected crustal mass. The shear stress concentration and ...
متن کاملDetecting Mineralization Using Partial Element Extractions: A Case Study
Detecting deep mineralization from partial element concentrations in surface and near-surface samples requires detecting the signature of one geochemical process against a background that arises from many other geochemical processes. Since the last glaciation of the Canadian Shield, it is believed that only H+ can have diffused through substantial overburden, and hence that the only available s...
